This time of year makes us all long for the warmest, coziest spots. If you can't get to a beach, then what better than holing up in a spot like these? Dark walls, bookshelves and canopy beds are absolutely dreamy.

I am SOOOO wishing it was Spring! The internet is a good way to pretend for a little while, anyway. I searched Google Images for some indoor/outdoor rooms to help me envision the days when I'll be able to sit outside with a glass of wine and a good book (on the Kindle, which needs to be another post!). Secret J. Crew

I had some Christmas credit to spend at J. Crew (thanks, Greg!) and spent lots of time pouring over the website to find just the right thing. Why is it that you always find tons of things you want when you don't feel like spending money, but can't find anything at all with a couple hundred bucks in your pocket? Maybe it's the pressure, the feeling that you don't want to make the wrong decision and regret your purchase.

Anyway, during my investigating, I discovered two sections of the J. Crew website that I had never looked closely at before. One is J. Crew Collection, their high-end line. There's actually a new Collection boutique in New York. Definitely a destination shop!

The other "mini-shop" on J. Crew's website is the Designer Gallery. I imagine this will change frequently, the way Target features different designers on a regular basis. Here are some goodies I eyeballed:







The Designer Gallery items are by Panama, Superior Labor, Want Organic, Sperry, Ray Ban, Timex and Globe-Trotter, respectively.

Blissful

One of my favorite shops in Knoxville has got to be Bliss. There are two Bliss Home locations (Market Square and The Gallery out west), which concentrate on furniture and home accessories, and Bliss Home & Art on Market Square, which has tons of cool jewelry, clothes and gift items. Bliss Home has stylish, modern furniture, but not so modern that it won't mesh with the more traditional Knoxville aesthetic.

Unfortunately, their website doesn't feature furniture right now, so I'll have to make a trip out and take some of my own photos. But for now, some of their quirky accessories and gift items are available. Here are a few examples:

Bracelet made of recycled bicycle chain, beautiful handmade jewelry....

Other fun pieces: a fly swatter clock, voodoo doll toothpick holders, and a yoga-inspired card holder. Have fun shopping and tell them I sent you!

Christmas dresses

I ordered both of these dresses from Victoria's Secret, thinking only one would work for a Christmas party I'm going to and I would send the other back. But I really like them both! So I am keeping. I figure the green one could work almost year-round (justification). Tonight, I'm wearing the red one, with gray patterned tights and gray shoes.
